# Research API overview

> Authenticate and start making requests to the CaseDock Research API.

The Research API lets you search public missing-person and unidentified-person records, inspect public case evidence, and retrieve cross-source research leads.

**Base URL:** `https://api.casedock.net`

## Get access

**1. Subscribe to Developer Access**

Developer Access is \$29.99 USD per month. [Subscribe](https://billing.casedock.net).

**2. Create an API key**

Create a key from the [Developer page](https://dashboard.casedock.net/developer). Keys are shown only once. You can have up to five active keys per account and revoke them from **API keys & usage**.

**3. Send your first request**

Pass the key on every request using the Bearer scheme.

> Keep your key on a server. Never embed it in a website, mobile app, or URL.
